Wall lamps with cable/plug are distinguished in that they are connected via a cable to an electrical outlet. So it is possible to install a wall lamp in places where no power outlet in the wall is present. Frequently a switch or dimmer is built into the supply line connector through which the lamp is controlled. Other wall lights with plug lead only be connected by a cable to the socket, but have a switch integrated directly into the light.
