The Louis Poulsen PH Snowball creates a completely dazzle-free lighting. The PH Snowball has three reflecting shades and thus the main part of the light is directed downwards. This luminaire radiates its light both downwards and to the sides. Therefore this luminaire illuminates itself when the light is switched on. Poul Henningsen designed his first luminaires for an exhibition in Paris in 1925/26. He concentrated his whole life on creating luminaires with glare-free lighting that cast soft shadows. The light cone should be lead to the right position. The PH Snowball was designed in 1958 and it was exhibited together with the PH 5 at the Danish Museum of Decorative Art. Although there was no great attention paid to the PH Snowball in the beginning after its re-launch in 1983 this Louis Poulsen luminaire was very successful.
